Workshop on Boardgames: Little Researched Play

CSSSC organised a workshop 'Little Research(ed) Play: Preserving and Digitizing Indian Board Games' on ancient Indian board games at JBMRC, Kolkata on June 25 at 1 p.m..   This workshop was  part of a project sponsored by the JPN Centre of Excellence in the Humanities, IIT Indore. We inaugurated this digital archive of Indian boardgames by inviting international experts to discuss the preservation of boardgames, games in the Indus Valley Civilisation and crafting boardgames with indigenous handicraft traditions. 

There was also a session on playing ancient boardgames such as Pallanguzhi (a variant of mancala) and Bagh Chal.  See the programme here:
